In case you didn't know already, today is National Chocolate Cake Day! Not that we ever need an extra reason to enjoy one of our favorite flavors, but any little bit helps.
Let's be honest though, chocolate is serious business. No matter your preference, we've got a chocolate cake to satisfy any craving. Whether it's our fluffy All American Chocolate, rich Chocolate Sin with almond, gooey German Chocolate packed with coconut and pecan custard, Oreo Buttercream (I may or may not be a closet Oreo addict), or our tried and true favorite Devil's Food.
If we know one truth this chilly Monday morning it's that we're not going to let this holiday go to waste! So bring on the cold glasses of milk, because we're ready.
We hope to see you today to celebrate with us. View our full menu of chocolate cakes here!

It's A New Year!
With the holiday season coming to a quick end it’s hard to believe another year has past. Many of our staff have traveled home to spend time with loved ones and welcomed family here in town! We’ve been chatting the week away about our holidays, brainstorming New Year's resolutions, and finishing off endless amounts of leftovers.
2013 has brought about so
many wonderful changes here in the shop, from an ever growing and wonderful
staff to our first full year in our new parlor addition. During busy nights in
the shop it’s hard to remember what we did before the expansion. It feels like
just last month we were entertaining the idea! What walls will we knock down?
Where will the door go? How about seating? What should the floors look like? Can
we get another fireplace?
We are so thrilled to
think of how much we’ve grown over the years. August 2015 will mark our 30th
year in business! Wow! It’s crazy to think that date will be here before we
know it. It’s been over a decade since we began the transition towards cake. Still seeing regular customers who grew with us through that transition is absolutely heart warming! Walking through the shop on
a Saturday night to see so many smiling faces and tables packed with friends
and family enjoying a cozy night together is such a wonderful sight.
We hope your year has been
great and that 2014 will treat you even better! Thank you to everyone who
included us as a part of their 2013 memories!

Cozy Comfort
We hope all the little holiday touches around the shop cheer you up as much as they do us! Literal squeals erupted last week as we unpacked boxes of ornaments and trimmed trees. Colossal cups of hot tea have become a morning must around here as we chat with customers on the phone and answer emails. It truly is a wonderful time of year!
P.S. The Scout Guide Greensboro is officially out this week! We should be stocked with copies in the next few days, so be sure to drop in for some sweets and take one home.

Holiday Indulgence
Whether you’re trying to feed a group of close friends and
family or bring some sweet appreciation into the office, our new holiday
platters are the perfect solution! We have five new assorted trays to choose
from all packed full of our sweet southern treats! All assortments come ready
to serve. Just unwrap and place out for everyone to enjoy.
Our assorted cookie trays come in two options. The first is our Spiced Cookie Tray, a selection of our three favorite cozy fall flavors: Ginger Molasses, Oatmeal Raisin, and Oatmeal Cranberry White Chocolate. Perfect to pair with a cup of hot apple cider!
The second option is our Traditional Cookie Tray. A variety of honored southern favorites including Chocolate Chip, Sugar Cookies, and our Maxie B’s Signature Cookies (dark chocolate chunks, coconut flakes, and walnuts). Each tray includes 18 delicious cookies. Because of the flavor profiles of these two assortments, flavors cannot be substituted between the two options. $32

For those with a true love of all those gooey baked treats, you can’t beat our Holiday Baked Goods platter. Filled with Sugar Cookies, rich
Chocolate Chunk Brownies, and heavenly dusted Snowball Cookies. It’s 24 serving of sugary,
buttery goodness. $40.
Don’t worry! We haven’t forgotten about all those out there
with a hardcore sweet tooth. We take our icing very seriously around here,
which is why we created our Frosted Holiday Platter. We guarantee it’ll satiate
any frosting craving you might be experiencing. Pilled high with mini whoopie pies,
mini cupcakes, and rich chocolate brownies. All in perfect bite sized
proportions to feed 24. $50.
Our final option is by far my favorite. As beautiful as it is delicious, a
Holiday Cupcake Wreath is sure to be the centerpiece at your next function! A
dozen of our classic vanilla holiday decorated cupcakes arranged in an elegant
wreath finished off with a beautiful bow. Almost too beautiful to eat! $38.
We are also making our wonderful Seafoam candy this year! A tasty meringue like candy with hints of maple, this old recipe of Robin's Grandmother's is perfect for the fudge lover! Individual candies can be purchased for $1.25 each, or you can pick up a box of 12 for $9.95.
Since all these sweets are created from scratch with love in
our kitchen, please allow us a few weekdays notice to create our newest holiday
offerings for you. We’ll be serving these through the New Year so call today to
place your order! 336.288.9811.

Sweet Gifts
Did you know that we ship our classic southern cakes? Well, we do! We've got it down to a science, and these sweet gifts make the perfect surprise to come home to for all of our Maxie B's lovers across the country.
Trying to decide what you will send to your favorite out of town friends and family members this holiday season? Let us do the work for you and send them one of our baked from scratch southern cakes! We ship our classic 9" round and 6" round bakery cakes in almost all of our flavors. Our sweet gifts arrive in a tightly wrapped package tied up in a pretty bow and can include a special note upon request!
So far we have shipped to forty-three of the fifty United States! We have even shipped to Hawaii! The states in grey indicate that we have never shipped there before (Alaska is the seventh, not pictured).
Help us fill in our map if you know someone special in one of those seven states! Our cafe staff would love to help you place a shipping order for a dear friend or family member. If you would like to send a cake somewhere we have already shipped before we would also love that just as much! We are so honored to be able to share Maxie B's with so many wonderful people all across the country.
Modes of Transportation: We either ship via the United States Postal Service or Fed Ex. When we ship through USPS priority mail there is an estimated shipping arrival of 2-3 days at a cost of $25 plus the price of your cake. Since we're on the East Coast here in North Carolina, closer states generally arrive in two days, and further distances such as California or Washington take the full three days.
To avoid cakes reaching a weekend standstill mid-delivery, we currently ship USPS orders on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of each week excluding any national postal holidays. This way we know that even if we ship your cake out on our last shipping day (Wednesday) we can rest assured that it will arrive to you on or before Friday so that it doesn't sit in transit over the weekend!

When we ship FedEx pricing varies depending on location, day of the week, etc. They have two options: overnight shipping, and two-day shipping. Depending on the location of where you are shipping to the price changes, but is usually somewhere around $40-$60 (although it can be much less as well as much more depending on the situation).
For Fed Ex our shipping days are a little more flexible. If you chose this method we can ship on any weekday, even Thursday or Friday. Because these days would require a weekend delivery, the prices are a bit higher than a typical Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday delivery.

Order Timeline: Since there is about a day or more of prep time that goes into your shipping order, it is always best to stop in or call the shop about three to five days before you would like us to ship your cake out. That way our kitchen staff has enough notice to whip you up a fresh, baked from scratch cake and allow it to chill in the freezer long enough to ship out in tip top stable condition the same day it's made.
You can find our menu here! We are currently shipping all of our flavors except for Fresh Strawberry Buttercream and Banana Pudding. Some of our seasonal favorites at the moment include Fresh Apple, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip, Gingerbread with Molasses Cream Cheese, Carrot Cake, and Hummingbird (sweet banana bread), although any of our flavors are wonderful year round!

Serving: serving our cakes is easy. Simply place the cake back in the freezer for at least three hours once it arrives, and then set it out to allow it to come to room temperature for about seven hours before serving. The rest is easy, just enjoy!
To place a shipping order with our cafe staff you can either drop in during business hours, or give us a call at 336.288.9811 to get your order started.
We look forward to sending a cake for you!
