Wedding Wednesday

Dominique and Anna Hoyt met while attending the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) about four years ago. They were both pursuing degrees in Public Health Education and working at the UNCG Recreation Center.  Dominique asked Anna to go to Coffeeology, a local cafĂ©, and the two have been together ever since!

One rainy Saturday in September 2012 the couple planned a hiking trip to Pilot Mountain, NC along with their two beloved dogs, Sydney and Sophie.  With Dominique leading the way, they hiked towards a nook at the top of the path. Anna was completely surprised when Dominique suddenly got down on one knee to propose! After their hike, the couple celebrated with dinner at Southern Lights Bistro in Greensboro.

The couple married on June 15th, 2013 at Travis Pointe Waterfront Weddings and Events on Lake Norman. Their theme was a simple, elegant, and romantic lakeside wedding. They wanted to create a relaxing atmosphere where their guests could enjoy a sense of escape in the beautiful day and happy celebration. A theme which transferred beautifully to their three-tier Strawberry Buttercream Cake! A hand whipped buttercream frosting, and fresh roses added the perfect final touch.

There were so many lovely aspects that tied the day together. From old mason jars filled with hydrangeas, sweet nautical signs, all the way to the natural aspects of the venue that were incorporated into the day. To add an extra special touch, the couple brewed homemade beer for their reception. Sydney and Sophie were even part of the celebration!

Dominique and Anna chose Maxie B’s for their wedding cake after years of enjoying birthday celebrations and date nights in our shop. Anna has always loved stopping by to say hello and try new flavors. Fresh Strawberry Buttercream is her favorite, so there was no doubt about choosing it for their special day!
