Yo Gabba Gabba!

My son, Brayden, is such a fan of the show Yo Gabba Gabba right now.  Though myself and his father think the show is at times a little creepy, kind of insane and off the wall......we still love the way that Brayden dances when he sees DJ Lance walk across the screen and how he seems to know every song from every episode.

So when it was time to plan a design for his 2nd birthday cake, there was no question that it would be Yo Gabba Gabba.

As he walked into the room and saw his birthday cake, all he said was, "Gabba!" with a great big smile.

It was hard to keep his little fingers out of the goods until it was time for cake, but you bet he had some fun with the cupcakes when it was finally time!

After the sugar rush set in, Brayden and his girlfriend Lilly were just as silly as could be...playing music and dancing just as long as they could.

Here are some shots of his cake and cupcakes....YO GABBA GABBA!

A boy and his dog (and motorcycle)

This past weekend we were excited to be able to create a fun, personalized cake for a wedding rehearsal in the Triad.  You always hear the saying, "...a boy and his dog", well this one is more fitting with the saying, "a boy and his dog and his motorcycle".

The K9 here is Diego and he is something special.  The groom is a K9 Officer in the High Point Police Department and Diego is his partner.  They both enjoy the time outdoors and with one another.....especially relaxing by the Harley.

Take a peek at a couple of shots of the the beautiful cake that Lisa Pierce created.

Take a few minutes and visit the Yes Weekly site to cast your votes for your favorite places in Greensboro.....of course, make sure to vote Maxie B's Best Bakery!!!!!!

Happy 11th Anniversay Shannon!

We all want to wish Shannon Barbee a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY here at Maxie B's!

Shannon started to work here at the age of 18....and has stayed on with us through all of our changes and growth into the bakery we are today!  Many of you know her from the time she has spent with you creating special cakes for your special occasions...from weddings to anniversaries, or baby showers to birthdays.  Whenever we receive a request for a truly special cake...Shannon gets involved in its planning and creation from the very beginning to the last detail.  She is creative, patient, and loves attention to the smallest details that can make such a difference to the final presentation of the cake and to our customer's overall happiness with the project.

Behind the scenes, Shannon emails all day long (and sometimes into the night as well!) with our brides and corporate customers.  She has taken over much of our blogging and Facebook updates as well...doing a great job of photographing and covering the day as it unfolds!  She also answers the phones with a smile, coordinates with all of our vendors for wedding cake deliveries and set ups, oversees hiring and training of all of our staff, coordinates scheduling of all of our events and staffing, and keeps all of the rest of us smiling and focused!  Amazing.

We love her and would not be the same without her!  We are grateful that she has found a way to keep Maxie B's in her life as she has gotten married and had two children in the last few years!  She is a busy lady...but you would never get that feeling from the way she calmly carries on each day!

We are celebrating the beginning of her 12th year with us today at the bakery with a specially catered luncheon by Melissa Lewkowicz of Events By Design.  Can't wait!  This is going to be another fun-filled year working together!
